Congratulates UPQCCF new board
Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (Ministry of VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake would like to congratulate the initiators of the country’s newly formed South Reward Community Council.
"I fully support the non-political group approach which was founded to address the challenges and issues affecting the district by taking a collective approach by involving the residents of the area.
"The various districts have some collective concerns such as a playground for the children and sporting facilities for the youth. Roads and streets also need attention; hence a few weeks ago I publicly stated that I will be introducing a district maintenance program for these very issues.
"I am looking forward to meeting with the newly formed council to hear about their concerns, views and plans," Minister Hon. Maurice Lake said on Sunday.
Minister Lake would also like to congratulate the newly elected board of the Upper Prince’s Quarter Community Council Foundation (UPQCCF).
Minister Lake is also looking forward to meeting with the board of the UPQCCF with respect to their infrastructural concerns and plans for the future.
"In my back to basics approach, I announced that I would like to meet with Community Councils on a monthly basis in order to know firstly what their views are and concerns. The first meetings will be of an introductory nature.
"Thereafter, we move forward on infrastructural matters and addressing these within the shortest time possible as they come up. I do not believe in long dragged out solutions for quality of life issues. Those that can be dealt with in the short-term will be dealt with," Minister Maurice Lake assured.
