Briefs Minster on preparations for upcoming meetings of the House
President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell met with Minister of Justice Hon. Dennis Richardson on Wednesday to update the Minister with respect to upcoming parliamentary sessions related to penal and criminal codes.
The meeting at the same time served as an introductory and the President plans on meeting with the other ministers as well during the coming weeks.
"I am continuing with the preparatory process for upcoming parliamentary sessions regarding various pieces of legislation that are incomplete. When Members of Parliament (MPs) return from their recess on August 2 we will hit the ground running to move pending matters forward before the end of the 3rd Sitting of the House comes on September 10.
"The Minister of Justice Hon. Dennis Richardson was provided with a list of pending laws, as well as all the verbatim reports that are available pertaining to these draft laws.
"Tentative dates to finalize the deliberations in Parliament were set and all MPs have officially received the same list as well as the verbatim reports pertaining to the hearings held in 2011.
"Also discussed were issues that the Minister considers his concern and priority to handle including the draft law regarding changing of the composition oversight/supervisory commission for the Security Services of Sint Maarten," President of Parliament Hon. Drs. Gracita Arrindell said on Sunday.
