As Tropical Storm Chantal approaches island chain; Additional watches and warnings may be issued for Leeward Islands
The Department of Disaster Management (ODM) continues to closely monitor the progress of the third Tropical Storm for the Atlantic hurricane season, Tropical Storm (TS) Chantal.
Based on the 8.00pm advisory of Monday evening, the National Hurricane Center in Miami has indicated that additional watches and warnings could be required for a portion of the Northern Leeward Islands later tonight (Monday).
ODM will continue to monitor the progress of this fast moving storm and will provide an additional update early Tuesday morning. The population is advised to monitor government and weather reports for any further updates.
TS Chantal was located on Monday evening at 8.00pm over 300 miles East South East of Barbados.
TS Chantal is forecasted to pass through the Eastern Caribbean island chain early Tuesday morning and throughout the day in the vicinity of the islands of Dominica, Martinique and St. Lucia.
