The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams was part of the enthusiastic audience of teachers, parents and family attending the Dow Musical Foundation’s School Steel Pan Recital. The recital featured students of various schools that attend the Foundation’s after school steel pan classes.
The Prime Minister thanked all those present for coming out to support the students that ranged from age five to eighteen. "I would like to say thank you to everyone for supporting all of the budding and professional musicians here this evening. It is good that you are here to support our children that are becoming versed in the traditional music of the steel pan. Congratulations are in order for all of the children taking part in the classes and giving us all an excellent performance this evening. I look forward to seeing these musicians continuing to practice and to grow as steel pan players. Also big congratulations to the mighty Dow for the work that the Dow Musical Foundation is doing in keeping Steel Pan Music Alive," commented the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also presented awards and certificates to the students who completed the program and encouraged them to continue keeping the art of steel pan in the community
