The St. Maarten Toastmasters Area Council will be hosting, for the first time ever, a public debate by its members to offer a more in-depth look into the most talked about issues in the community as well raise awareness about the organization.
Scheduled for Sunday May 5th, 2013, the debate, set in standard format, will focus on elections under the theme "Electoral Reform: Is there a need for change?" Two teams of debaters will vie for the winning trophy and internal recognition. Judges will also be present representing the general public and during the intermission a special lecture will be given by a guest speaker.
The debate is expected to attract a large group of people including invited guests, local leaders, current and former politicians, community members and toastmasters from the five clubs representing both the Dutch and French sides.
This will also be a great occasion for the public to see what the Toastmasters organization has to offer in terms of providing excellent communication and leadership training and networking opportunities.
More details surrounding the debate will be dispersed at a later date. Interested persons may contact the Area Council for more information at lrmarlin@gmail.com
