Coming weekend Rotarians worldwide will observe and recognize the peace efforts being made by numerous Rotary Peace Communities throughout the world. This in line as well with the year theme for this year of Rotary International: Peace Through Service.
In Australia a Rotary Peace Communities International Conference is being held to this extent. Speakers will include Rotary World Peace Fellows, Directors of Centres for Peace and Conflict Studies, international experts in conflict management and other commentators on World Peace. Rotary Club of Sint Maarten lives up to Rotary’s commitment to contribute to a safe and empathic society where people from different nationalities can live together in peace and harmony. For instance recently by presenting Mrs.Oldine Bryson-Panthophlet with the Paul Harris Fellow regalia in support of her efforts for the Safe Haven Foundation, which shelters, counsels and supports women and children who are victims of domestic violence, in order to contribute to peace in the home environment. This week the interactors came to the Rotary meeting to be educated about the Robert’s Rules of Order (Parliamentary Procedure) by Mr. Warno Kartokromo and next week a presentation will be given by Mr. David McGregor to enhance communicative skills."
