Prime Minister on passing of Camile Bailey;“The Island has lost a true pioneer in the Culture & Arts

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams on Wednesday expressed her condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the friends and family of the late Camile Bailey.

 

The Prime Minister stated that St. Maarten has lost a pioneer in the field of culture and arts; "On Tuesday I was saddened to hear that the island lost a true pioneer in the Culture and Arts and the development of such on the island. Mr. Bailey will be remembered as a teacher, Civil Servant and pioneer of Emancipation Day," commented the Prime Minister.

Camile Bailey, who passed away at the St. Maarten Medical Center, was 76 years old. He was the former Director of the Youth and Sports department, a member of the Council of the Arts and a former teacher. He was also one of the pioneers of the Emancipation Day Celebrations. "I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Camile. We should remember him for his contributions to the society of our island and for the man he was," concluded the Prime Minister.
