Trench Cleared To Avoid Flooding

On Wednesday morning August 22nd before Sint Maarten was to be affected by tropical storm Isaac, the Community Police Officer Juan Statie, who is in charge of the Dutch Quarter District recieved an urgent phone call from the president of the Dutch Quarter Community Council informing him of a recently constructed trench in that area which was blocked and could pose a serious threath to the area with the expected upcoming heaving rain fall. Officer Statie immediately went to the scene and after taking note of the situation called in the Head of Public Works Mr. Buncamper on who’s orders the trench was immediately cleared.
