The 8th World Cultural Heritage Youth Symposium 2027 will be in Loutraki, Greece, from
March 17, 2027, to March 21, 2027, under the theme “Young Guardians of World Heritages”.
The Annual World Cultural Heritage Youth Symposium is being held on the occasion of the
World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. The Symposium contributes to
the Sustainable Development Goals by promoting “Education 2030,” focused on SDG 4.7 as
well as SDG 17.
The symposium aims to bring together students and teachers from around the world to raise
cultural awareness, develop mutual respect, and help create a new generation of world citizens
who feel united in diversity and are willing to shape a sustainable future for everyone. This is
achieved through knowledge and experience exchange, interaction, and collaboration on a
common goal related to the world cultural heritage.
In April 2026, a delegation of five (5) students, Tiara Hodge, Siyona Gianchandani, Reese
Prince, Hadassah Issac, and Aljenée Henry, represented Sint Maarten at the 7th World Cultural
Heritage Youth Symposium under the theme “World Heritage in Young Hands.” They were
accompanied by Jennelle Blackman, language teacher at Milton Peters College, Emlynn Francis,
language teacher at St. Maarten Academy, and Marcellia Henry, Secretary General for
UNESCO. During their time, they shared the island’s cultures with other delegations and were
ambassadors for the island. Upon their return, the delegation shared their presentations and what
they learned with various organizations and stakeholders. We would like to thank all of our

symposium a reality.
Applications are now open for teachers and students aged 15–24. The deadline to apply is
October 16, 2026.
