KPSM Reminds Community to Prioritize Safety as the 2026–2027 School Year Begins

The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) wishes all students, parents, teachers, school
staff, and the wider school community a safe and successful start to the 2026–2027
school year, which officially begins on Monday, August 17, 2026.
With schools reopening, motorists and residents are reminded to expect significantly
heavier traffic, particularly in and around the Cul-de-Sac Basin, South Reward, and St.
Peters areas.
Motorists are urged to exercise patience, caution, and courtesy during the morning and
afternoon rush hours. Parents are encouraged to leave home early, ensure that children
arrive at school safely and on time, and, where possible, consider carpooling to help
reduce congestion.
School bus drivers are also asked to assist in keeping traffic flowing by using the main
roads as much as possible and avoiding unnecessary use of the inner roads in the
affected areas. This will help prevent additional congestion and ensure safer movement
for students, pedestrians, and other road users.
Officers will be present at certain locations to assist with traffic management and to
promote safety around schools.
KPSM calls on the entire community to work together, remain patient, follow traffic
regulations, and make the safety of our children the priority as we begin another school
year.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten wishes everyone a safe and successful 2026–2027
school year.
