A settlement agreement has been reached between the Government of Sint Maarten and utility provider NV GEBE, Minister of Finance Hon. Perry Geerlings said.
“A settlement agreement was signed between the Government and NV GEBE in August. Based on research with respect to what Government owed NV GEBE and what NV GEBE owed in concession payments to the Government, it now appears that NV GEBE owed Government.
“I am very pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with NV GEBE Managing Board. This is another very important settlement and conclusion of outstanding debts cleared, and now we can move forward with a clean slate.
“NV GEBE is also in a better financial position after having this matter settled. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Managing Board and Supervisory Board for the roles that each one played in order for us to come to a settlement agreement,” Minister of Finance Hon. Perry Geerlings said.
Present for the signing for NV GEBE was Chief Executive Officer Kenrick Chittick, Chief Financial Officer Iris Arrindell and Chief Operations Officer Veronica Jansen-Webster.
