NAGICO Insurances culminated the month of October on a high note when they presented a donation to the Positive Foundation envisioned to assist the St. Maarten Medical Center to purchase a mammogram machine.
President of the Positive Foundation, Shelly Alphonso accepted the check on behalf of the foundation and thanked NAGICO for their generous donation. “NAGICO has been a consistent partner of the Positive Foundation since its inception and we are grateful for their unwavering support,” she said. “NAGICO has entrusted this donation to us and we will ensure that the NAGICO’s contribution is forwarded to the St. Maarten Medical Center.”
At the onset of our 2018 “Be Breast Aware” campaign, the St. Maarten Medical Center, another reliable partner of the Positive and Elektralytes Foundation, who are responsible for organizing the annual breast cancer awareness campaigns on St. Maarten, indicated that mammography machine was unavailable. However, the foundations were assured that everything was being done to get it restored. On hearing this, NAGICO recognized that this was unique opportunity to give back to the community as part of its 1000 Smiles Project. “Breast Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women and as a company, we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that we help to bring awareness about this terrible disease,” NAGICO Insurances said. “With this donation, we are pleased to be able to help provide women the opportunity to get tested on the Dutch side of the island.”
Shelly Alphonso, President of the Positive Foundation added that “The Positive and Elektralytes Foundation in collaboration with the St. Maarten Medical Center have now agreed to extend the 100 free mammogram vouchers program into 2019 given that the mammography machine has restored late October 2018. We are extremely grateful to our partners like NAGICO and the St. Maarten Medical Center for believing in our “Be Breast Aware campaign to Feel it, Find It and Fight it.”
