The Police department is reminding the general public that the control on unpaid road tax for motor vehicles for the year 2017 has begun. All owners/drivers of motor vehicles registered on the Dutch side of the island should make sure that their road tax is paid before using the public roads to avoid any inconvenience.
The owners/managers of car rentals registered on the Dutch side should make sure that the road tax for their vehicles is paid. If these cars are caught driving on the public roads with unpaid road tax, the owner/manager of these establishments will be held accountable.
The license plates that are provided by the Government Receivers Office are regulated by law and changes in any form or fashion to these plates are in violations with the Traffic Ordinance. The covering of these plates with other materials for decorative reasons or other is also not allowed.
