The technical stream of the Saba Comprehensive School is the first vocational education (MBO) institution in the Caribbean Netherlands to achieve the basic quality in education. This was announced by Minister of Education, Culture and Science Jet Bussemaker on Wednesday morning when she visited the Leather Factory at Cove Bay where instruction in various disciplines of vocational education is offered. The Minister and her delegation toured the facility and held talks with teachers and students. Afterwards everyone was treated to cake.
Bussemaker was happy to see firsthand that there are students in the vocational programme and stressed the importance for Saba to create the link between the economy and education. “It is important to guarantee these young Sabans an opportunity in the job market once they have completed their vocational studies,” said Bussemaker.
