The St. Maarten Lions Club launched the 2016/2017 Lions International Peace Poster Contest. This year’s theme “A Celebration of Peace” is open to all local schoolchildren between the ages of 11 – 13.
Introductory letters have been sent to all the local schools and their respective schoolboards encouraging their participation in this year’s competition. The deadline to submit entries is October 10th. The winning poster from St. Maarten will advance through to the district competition, and can advance through to the multiple-district and international levels of competition from there.
One international grand-prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected. The grand-prize is a monetary award of US$5,000, plus a trip for two (2) to a special award ceremony. The 23 merit award winners will each receive a certificate and a monetary prize of US$500.
Sint Maarten won the Peace Poster contest on the Lions Clubs district level in 2015, and the Sint Maarten Lions Club would very much like to put Sint Maarten on the Lions Club map once again; this year by having its entrance advance in the competition, ultimately winning the 2016/2017 multiple-district and international competition.
