KINGSTON, Jamaica – The West Indies Cricket Board acknowledges receipt of the recent resignation letter from former Director Baldath Mahabir, who was one of two member representatives from the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board.
In an emailed letter to the WICB Corporate Secretary, dated Monday, November 2, Mr. Mahabir provided no reasons for his sudden resignation which was effective immediately.
The WICB has subsequently seen media reports, generated on the same date of his resignation, in which Mr. Mahabir is reported to have quit for various reasons. At the most recent Board meeting in September in Antigua, Mr. Mahabir was an active and constructive participant and gave no indication whatsoever of his intention to quit WICB.
The Board of Directors of the WICB has a regularly scheduled meeting each quarter and the next one is scheduled for the second weekend of December, in St. Lucia. The matter of Mr. Mahabir’s resignation will be tabled as one of several items on an active agenda which is focused on improving the fortunes of West Indies cricket.
The WICB thanks Mr. Mahabir for his years of service as a Director and wishes him well.
