Diya Sachdev, an 11 years old from the Rev. John A. Campus, Methodist Agogic Center, (MAC) places second overall in the Junior category of the annual FCCA Poster Competition.
Her poster was forwarded to FCCA for further judging on May 18, and once again she has made St. Maarten proud by placing 2nd overall in the Junior Division.
The posters were to depict three ways in which the destination can make a difference in preserving the environment and each poster were to have a title. The title of the contest was “My Caribbean, Your Caribbean, To Protect and Preserve.”
This year’s winners are as follows:
Junior Division:
1st Place Omario Kelvin – Jamaica
2nd Place Diya Sachdev – St. Maarten
3rd Place Homayra Nawar – Sarah Belize
Senior Division:
1st Place Chloe Stuart -Bahamas
2nd Place Nisa Olesya Sanchez -Belize
3rd Place Anissa Hoyte- Cayman Islands
The FCCA will award cash scholarships to the first, second, and third place winners and their schools from the two age categories as follows:
- 1st place US$3,000.00 – for the student and US$3,000.00 for the school
- 2nd place US$1,500.00 – for the student and US$1,500.00 for the school
- 3rd place US$1000.00 – for the student and US$1000.00 for the school
All other entries who made it as a finalists will also receive a cash award of US$200.00 for participating. This year’s poster contest attracted entries from 12 nations!
The FCCA poster competition is part of St. Maarten’s Tourist Bureau’s Tourism Awareness program targeting the in school population.
