Island Gems Charity Foundation recently donated 36 new and colourful tablecloths to St. Martin Home, the senior citizens living centre operated by White and Yellow Cross Foundation. The home was in need of tablecloths to brighten up atmosphere for clients throughout the year, especially on special occasions and during the Christmas Holidays.
The all-women Island Gems has a longstanding relationship with White and Yellow Cross Foundation. The group has donated several times in the past to White and Yellow Cross using funds raised at its annual costume gala dinner.
“Island Gems continues to work as a funding alternative for organisations and foundations carrying out social, educational and community projects. We seek to assist where there is long term and lasting effects,” said Island Gems President Alita Singh.
“The tablecloths were much welcomed by the staff and clients of St. Martin Home. Island Gems seeks out projects like these for the joy and comfort the recipients get. To some these may seem as just tablecloths. To us and to the clients of St. Martin Home, they are a link to the festiveness of any occasion,” Singh said.
Island Gems Charity Foundation raises funds to support community projects on both sides of the island at its only fundraising event – its annual themed gala dinner. The next gala dinner in Captain Oliver’s restaurant is on Saturday, March 28, 2015. The theme is “Caribbean Creole Night.”
Island Gems urge everyone to save the date and to start getting their best Caribbean Creole-style outfits ready for the gala.
