The President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell recently received a courtesy visit from Commander Hans Lodder and military entourage.
“We discussed several issues including the work that the marines are doing throughout the country with emphasis on working with local authorities in assisting with safety and security trainings and with social programs.
“I shared with the outgoing commander that I would like to see more opportunities for our young men and women who expressed their desire to do so, to have a career in the military.
“I was very pleased with the discussions and looking forward to explore the avenues that would give some of our people the chance to be trained in the different functions at the Ministry of Defense.
“The task of Defense is a Kingdom authority. We must remember that the Netherlands is close by through the new entities of Saba and Statia. Training possibilities are not farfetched if we keep an open mind and make good use of the network within the Kingdom and make it work for our people.
“The Commander also signed the guest book of Parliament, leaving etched in our constitutional history words of wisdom and support for the People of Sint Maarten,” President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell said on Sunday.
