St. Maarten Emergency Medical Services is celebrating EMS Week from June 8, 2014-June 13, 2014 with various activities to commemorate the event, such as lectures at Leopold Bell and Sister Marie Laurence Schools, open house and more.
“I would like to congratulate the staff of the Ambulance Department and all those who work in the emergency medical services, such as the WIEMS and Red Cross and their volunteers for the jobs they carry out on a daily basis,” said Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Cornelius De Weever.
Earlier this week, head of the Ambulance Department, Cylred Richardson presented Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Cornelius De Weever with the EMS Week of activities poster. The theme of EMS week 2014 is “Dedicated for Life.”
On Sunday June 8 at 9AM at the Methodist Church the EMS week will officially kick off with the church service. On Monday, a lecture at Sister Marie Laurence School. On Tuesday, June 10 lecture at Leopold Bell School. On Wednesday, June 11 from 5PM-7:30PM will be the 35th anniversary Open House at the Ambulance Department in Cay Hill behind the St. Maarten Medical Center. Thursday, June 12 a unity march at 7PM starting from L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium. The final event is on Friday, June 13 at 6PM, which is a Motorcade Parade and sports evening at Raoul Illidge Sport Complex.
Minister De Weever is encouraging the community to participate in the activities, to show appreciation for those who provide this service every day, as you just never know when you might need them.
