Minister Richardson meets with Minister Voges to discuss diplomatic strategy

Minister of Tourism and Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications (MinTEATT) Hon. Ted Richardson, on Friday met with Minister Plenipotentiary Hon. Mathias Voges regarding the strategic use of the Sint Maarten House in The Hague to promote economic development and investment for the country.

 

Minister Richardson is of the view that Sint Maarten House can play a considerable role with respect to the promotion of trade, investment, culture etc.

The Hague, the Netherlands is home to 160 international agencies. The presence of these international organizations has attracted a sizeable number of non-governmental organizations.

The Netherlands maintains diplomatic relations with 181 states, 115 of which are represented in The Hague with an embassy or consulate.

Minister Voges also informed about the minister’s road map which encompasses a vision and strategy for country Sint Maarten.

"The Sint Maarten House is an institution of the country and we need to have good communication with our organization which would allow the Minister Plenipotentiary to represent the country well when he is engaged by other embassies.

"The Minister Plenipotentiary can use his diplomatic channels and therefore has to be aware and up to speed on developments especially where it concerns our economy, investment opportunities etc. The Sint Maarten House has a lot of potential and we have to fully utilize our institution to promote our country," Minister Hon. Ted Richardson said on Sunday.
