Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Cornelius De Weever during the career fair opening last week at the Belair Community Center congratulated the organizers and urged young people to find a career that has potential for growth.
"I work closely with the Minister of Education, and it would only make sense that in her absence I represent her," said Minister De Weever. "I mention this to link education and the workforce, finishing school and finding a job is one thing, but a career that includes the potential to grow is a goal we should all have for our students."
Minister De Weever further stated at the opening of the career fair that he noticed many businesses that were not present and that there is a clear correlation with work permits. "I hope we can change that trend in the future without jeopardizing our economy," said Minister De Weever.
The minister thanked the organizing committee for their hard work, and also thanked the various companies, colleges locally, regionally and internationally for making the event possible. Minister De Weever closed his opening remarks by asking each and every one present to stay committed to building St. Maarten together.
