On Sunday, October 20th the Community Police Officers, Felix Richards, Ethelwoldus Josepha, Helen Cristina-Romeo, Juan Statie, inspector Ricardo Henson and Edelmiro Jansen from the Department of VROMI travelled to Fort Meyers Florida to attend an advanced three days course in CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).
All participants have already followed the basic course in CPTED last year on Sint Maarten and have received certification as a specialist. All participants have followed this advanced course successfully and received a certificate from the National Institute of Crime Prevention (CPD) and a diploma from the Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute through the Office of the Attorney General. The goals of the course was to have a good understanding of how to implement the CPTED strategies, to recognize the use of lighting as it relates to safety among many other objectives.
