Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake announces that the second public consultation related to the drafting of development plans for Dutch Quarter and Middle Region areas will be held on August 22.
The public consultation will take place Thursday, August 22 at 7.00pm at the Belvedere Community Center, Low Estate Road, Belvedere.
The process of the preparation of zoning plans in the format of public consultations is cardinal for the preparation of the aforementioned that meet the needs and expectations of the community of Sint Maarten, and specifically those of the important stakeholders such as the neighborhood community councils, home owners associations and other entities that serve a role in voicing the concerns of residents within the neighborhoods.
"The Cole Bay-Billy Folly and Cay Bay town hall meeting was a huge success. Many stakeholders came out and I was very pleased with the turnout. I am looking forward to a similar big turnout by the residents and stakeholders of Dutch Quarter and Middle Region.
"This is a follow-up public consultation and the input of the community is considered of paramount importance in this process in order for the right choices to be made. The people have to have a say by giving their views with respect to the spatial development of the country," Minister Hon. Maurice Lake said on Thursday.
The aforementioned plans will guide the future spatial development of the country where it relates to government and private land.
The town hall meeting process is part of process of drafting of development plans/ "zoning plans" for country Sint Maarten which was initially started back in the first quarter of 2012 under former Minister of VROMI Theo Heyliger.
