As part of his working visit to Sint Maarten, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and his deligation visited the Philipsburg Police Station on Saturday July 20th. At 09.00 a.m. on his arrival at the police station, he was received by Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte, Acting Chief of Police Commissioner Carl John, Public Prosecutors Hans Mos and Karola van Nie. During the visit at the police station a presentation by the Public Prosecutors Office assisted by the Director of the Court of Guardianship Mrs. Richelda Emanuel regarding the Penal Code and issues regarding the youth.
After the presentation, a guided tour by the Community Police Officer Rensley Henson, through the Middle region, Dutch Quarter, Union Farm and Belvedere areas, was given to the Prime Minister and delegation, explaining them the challenges that are faced on a daily basis regarding the youth engaging in anti-social behavior.
The Prime Minister and his entourage were quite impressed with the presentation and the tour that were given. The Minister of Justice the Honorable Dennis Richardson was also present during the presentation and tour.
After the tour the Prime Minister and his delegation went on to visit the Point Blanche Prison where his was met by the Director of the prison Mr. Edward Rohan.
