The Minister of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake earlier this week met with residents from Waymouth Hill with respect to their concerns.
The Minister and officials from Ministry VROMI were informed how the developer had to put in infrastructure when they bought the property, but this was not the case.
Apparently the residents have a private agreement with the developer where he promises to put in the infrastructure.
The residents stated their concern with respect to run-off that settles on Brimstone Road and Mount Scenery. One resident also pointed out how she has been complaining to Government for years to address the issues but to no avail.
The resident is also worried that emergency vehicles can’t access certain roads.
Minister Lake in his back to basics approach got in contact with the representative of the developer to discuss the concerns of the residents. He met with Mr. Singer who in turn will follow-up with the developer in order to come to a win-win situation for the residents.
Singer promised Minister Lake that the developer will address the major infrastructure issues where it concerns the side roads of Waymouth Hill.
Minister Hon. Maurice Lake was pleased to hear this and also plans to have a follow-up meeting at the end of July with the developer himself to find out how things are progressing.
"I would like to see a win-win solution for all parties concerned. Everybody has a role and a responsibility. I would like to see the Homeowners Association reactivated who can represent the homeowners in the future.
"This body is the one who can handle future issues with third parties, and it can be channeled in the proper way. I would like to thank Mr. Waymouth and Mr. Singer for their attention and promised follow-up regarding the concerns expressed by the homeowners, and also for donating a piece of the main road of Waymouth that will make Link 6 a reality," Minister Hon. Maurice Lake said on Friday.
