TelEm is very satisfied with the results of the recently concluded Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference held under the theme, "Leadership and Peace through Cultural Diversity."
"As one of the main sponsors of this event, we are very happy and satisfied at the level of participation as well as the discussions that took place during the four-day conference," said Cheryl Rismay, TelEm’s Marketing & Sales Officer.
"TelEm has always been supportive of activities involving our youth and we are very pleased to have been able to assist the Rotary Club 7020 in hosting this important conference," Rismay said, adding: "we are satisfied with the way the young ‘leaders of tomorrow’ addressed the issues."
Thanking TelEm for its kind sponsorship, Jim Ferris, Rotary’s Assistant District Governor and chairman of the Task Force that organized the conference said, "It was fantastic! They’re asking for it again next year."
According to Ferris, there were some 124 young people within the age bracket 14 – 20, drawn from several Caribbean islands including Jamaica, St. Kitts and Tortola, and of course, St. Maarten, who attended the conference.
"They were highly motivated. Most of them were very impressed at the organization and how well it was put together," Ferris said.
He said that Rotary 7020 District Governor, Vance Lewis of Tortola showered praise on the organizers.
The RYLA conference was addressed by Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams as well as Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, Hon. Silveria Jacobs.
