On November 15th 2012, the Police Department officially launched their yearly, end of the year general controls called ‘Operation Vigilance.
These controls are being carried out in collaboration with other departments falling under the Ministry of Justice. The objective of these controls are to provide security for all visitors coming to the island as well as the community of Sint Maarten.
There have been island wide traffic controls, controls in those areas where tourist visit frequently and also in the residential areas. These areas are patrolled by motor vehicles, Bike patrol and also on foot.
On Monday the police were seen patrolling the Maho Reef area and surroundings on their newly purchased SEGWAYS . These SEGWAYS thusfar have resulted quite positive.
