Prime Minister attends Closing of Wheelchair Tennis Tournament

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams, joined by the Governor of St. Maarten His Excellency Drs. Eugene Holiday and Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Affairs the Hon. Minister Silveria Jacobs, attended the closing of the Wheelchair Tennis Tournament at the Princess Port de Plaisance Health Club on Sunday. The Prime Minister in her remarks has highlighted the inspiration the athletes gave to not only persons living with disabilities within the community but also to the community of St. Maarten in General. The Tournament featured world famous wheelchair athletes including the top ranked competitors in the world.

 

"Thank you for being an inspiration to not only the physically challenged in our country but to all St. Maarteners; how you overcame your disability and became an internationally recognized athlete is an inspiration to all and you are an example to those who need the extra inspiration to go that extra mile to those disabled living on the island to reach their full potential," stated the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also commended the Be Able Committee of Top Promotions Foundation for organizing a week that will do so much in bringing awareness to those living with disabilities in the community and participated in the opening march of the disabled week.
