Grade Five of the St. Dominic Primary School held a beach Cleanup on Guana Bay Beach on Thursday. Some thirty one students accompanied by teachers Liesel and Beverly, parents and staff of the St. Maarten Nature Foundation collected some eight garbage bags of primarily plastic debris from the beach. On Tuesday the Nature Foundation gave a presentation to the students explaining them about the wildlife of St. Maarten and the reasons for keeping the beaches clean. During the presentation the students were also given information about local St. Maarten beaches and thier importance for nesting sea turtles, plastic pollution and the various animals that make their home in the sea. The Nature Foundation thanked all thirty-one students, parents and Teachers for working hard in keeping St. Maarten’s beaches clean.
