MINISTER HARBOUR AFFAIRS VISITS VOLKER AND HOLLANDIA

Minister Harbour Affairs and Management Harbour visits both head quarters Volker Stevin and Hollandia. Discussions were held on the progress of the causeway and possibilities on future projects which included the Pier 1 repairs.

 

Volker Stevin is the main contractor of the Causeway Project and Hollandia is the Subcontractor who is building the huge swing bridge as seen on the picture. Hollandia also know for its huge international steel projects is represented by Mr. Steven Lubbers as managing director.

During the last months the Harbour together with Aviation Inspectorate reviewed the height of the swing bridge. Adjustments have been made based on the new report of Naco which was supported by a second opinion of CH2MHill Aviation Department US.

The Minister and Mingo thank Aviation Inspectorate Director Mr. Halley and his inspectors to come up with a solution and to avoid any further significant delays.

Currently, the causeway is still on track and the expected date for the Swing Bridge to be completed for is May 2013. Some adjustments will have to made on the pylons height and the cable structure.

Minister said it was important to make this visit and also update the Independent Engineering firm from the Financier CH2MHill represented by the senior engineer Mr. Dave Mock who was also present and leading the discussions with Mr. Lennard de Bryn from Volker on the technicalities of the Project.

Mingo was aware during his trip offisland on questions posted to the Harbour , he clearly indicated that all questions will be answered as he was previously informed before the trip by the shareholder Minister Panthophlet that shortly a shareholders meeting will be held as clarity needs to be given by Board and Management to cover questions and documentation on any unclear matters related to Harbour activities and will be documented in the meeting.
