BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (CUOPM) – The 2102 State Scholar and runner-up were congratulated Tuesday for their outstanding performance during the recent CAPE exams.
Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas during his weekly radio programme Tuesday extended special praise and congratulations to the State Scholar, the first and second runners-up, as well as the families, teachers, and others who helped to make their outstanding performance possible.
"Special praise, however, must, in the final analysis, be reserved for the students themselves, since no amount of encouragement and support would have yielded this year’s outstanding results, had these students not put in the hard work and discipline that they did," said Prime Minister Douglas.
"And so I extend warmest congratulations to the 2012 State Scholar of St. Kitts and Nevis, Ms. Tishanna Hazel who earned seven Grade 1 CAPE passes; to second runner-up, Ms. Shanice Liburd who earned five Grade I passes; and to Wricherly Gumbs who also earned five Grade I passes, all students of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College," Dr. Douglas said.
"To to all other students, whatever their level of performance, I say – Never give up, never despair. Keep on trying no matter what! One never knows what mercies await us, around the next corner, when we work hard; do our best; and try, try, try again. And it is important not only for older students, but for pupils in our elementary schools to understand this as well," said the St. Kitts and Nevis leader.
