The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams will be heading the Kingdom Delegation to the Ibero-American Summit in Cadiz Spain from the 14th to the 18th of November.

The Ibero-American Summit, formally the Ibero-American Summits of Heads of State and Governments, is a yearly meeting of the heads of government and states of the Spanish– and Portuguese-speaking nations of Europe and the Americas as members of the Organization of Ibero-American States. The Kingdom of the Netherlands has an associate observer’s status at the high-level summit and the Kingdom Delegation will be led by the Prime Minister.

"This conference of Ibero-American States involves the countries that are former colonies and territories of Spain and Portugal and have a continued relationship with countries and territories which fall outside of that umbrella. In essence this conference involves nearly the entire South and Central America region. In the current financial climate St. Maarten, just like numerous other nations, is keenly looking at South American economies and high on the agenda will be the various policies being looked at for economic growth and for the support of small and medium enterprises as it relates to our country.

During the conference the various member states and associate member states will be discussing various agenda points important to the South and Central American region, which includes the Caribbean.
