The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams has congratulated the people of the United States on their presidential elections that were held on Tuesday the 6th of November 2012. "I would like to congratulate the people of America on re-electing President Barack Obama as President of the United States. I look forward to working with the Obama Government on matters that pertain to Country St. Maarten’s relationship with our neighbor to the North," stated the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said it was encouraging to see the world’s largest democracy vote in such large numbers; "It was good to see the large voter turnout in the world’s largest democracy and it is a clear sign that the issues which were contested are important for the American People. I wish President Obama much strength and guidance during the difficult challenges I am sure he will face in the months to come," commented the prime Minister.
At the start of the Obama Campaign The Prime Minister congratulated local cultural icon Nicole De Weever on being a part of President Obama’s Vote44Victory re-election campaign. The Vote44Victory campaign was a fashion Viralsuperpac designed to inspire, motivate and galvanize Obama’s so-called generation X/Yers. Ms. De Weever was chosen as one of the faces of the campaign because she embodies the spirit of the movement, according to a comment from Mr. Calcie Cooper, campaign founder.
