On Friday September 28th EL&I and Project Groen Bonaire (WNF), within the framework of the visit of Annemie Burger, Director General Nature and Regions of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture & Innovation, will organize a small business to business sustainability exhibition. Location: Rincon, Mangazina di Rei.
The sustainability exhibition in the cultural historical setting of Mangazina di Rei, provides local entrepreneurs a platform where they can present their product or service. Invitees from business world and the public sector will have a display of what "sustainability" means in the practical application on Bonaire. This does not only involve "high-tech" applications that can save energy and water, but also homegrown products, such as honey, liqueur, jam and goat cheese. Another important aspect of sustainability on Bonaire is the reuse and recycling of waste; therefore waste becomes an important new resource. Finally, sustainable (electric) transportation may not be lacking, because a sustainable image has become a key differentiator in the tourist market.
EL&I and Project Groen Bonaire thank the following participants for their participation in the sustainability exhibition: Bon Eco Solutions, Cadushi, Bon Tuk, Bon Recycling, Selibon (BonCompost), Bonaire Bike Rentals, Semper Kontentu Geitenkaas, Marjan Swagerman (confituren), Roald Boom (honey) and Caribbean Facility.
What is sustainable?
The theory of sustainability is often described using the 3 P’s: People, Planet, Profit. In simple words, sustainable means that people can fulfill their present needs without compromising human, environmental and economy in the future. It means that we have a responsibility for future generations and that we assume that responsibility seriously.

Boneiru Duradero
There are dozens of innovative entrepreneurs on Bonaire whose focus is on their own production or on reselling sustainable products and/or services. These products and services are mostly unknown. For that reason, Project Groen Bonaire will organize a second sustainability exhibition at the end of 2012, then for the general public, under the title "Boneiru Duradero" (Sustainable Bonaire). "Boneiru Duradero" wants to offer something interesting to all audiences, young and old, so that everyone feels welcome to come and have a look. Sustainable entrepreneurs who wish to participate in the sustainability exhibition Boneiru Duradero in November 2012, can register via: boneiruduradero@gmail.com.
