Training given by NCIS
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams closed the Training of the Protective Services Operations Officers last Friday with words of thanks and presentations of certificates.
The training, which was given by the United States Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS) Atlantic Detachment, was a weeklong course given to law enforcement officers who engage in protective services, particularly on the protection of dignitaries.
The Prime Minister thanked all of the participants for enrolling in the program and successfully completing a difficult and demanding course; "It is extremely important that you know that the training which you have received may be necessary. I want you to know that sometime in the future you may have to depend on your training to save a life and you know have the skills and mindset which is so important for a country in development," commented the Prime Minister.
The PM also looks forward to a continued working relationship with the NCIS Atlantic Detachment for reinforcing the island’s safety and protective services. "I would also like to thank the instructors for sharing their wealth of knowledge with our men and women and I am sure that you will be back in the future," continued the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also thanked Mr. James Richardson of the National Security Service for making the training possible and the members of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet for their logistical support. The Prime Minister ended by thanking the Fire Department for allowing the use of the Fire Station facilities for the duration of the training.
