The Philipsburg Jubilee Library in collaboration with Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise will be hosting an E-reading workshop for teachers, through the Readers are Leaders program, during the month of September 2012.
The Readers are Leaders program was started by the Philipsburg Jubilee Library and the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise in March 2010. As part of the program, the teenagers run their own book club. The aim of Readers are Leaders is to turn St. Maarten’s teenagers into avid readers. High school students are challenged to read at least 2 books per month.
The workshop will be conducted by Ms. Tamara Hughes, an Instructional Technology and Distance Education Specialist; Marcellia Henry, an Educator and President of Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise and Monique Alberts, the Director of Philipsburg Jubilee Library. The workshop is scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 between 6:00 pm and 7:45pm, at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library.
The goals of this free, E-reading workshop are for participants to become effective
implementers of technology, in and out of the classroom, and for participants to promote reading through technological devices such as: E-readers, smartphones, tablets, and computers.
We look forward to your support in making this E-reading workshop a rewarding and educational experience for the teachers of St. Maarten. If you require any further information, please contact the library at 542-2970.
