Caribbean Cable Association Gives $1000 To Local Agency Through SXM Cable TV

 

 Through the generosity of the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA), Generation New Status STM Drum Band is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the association’s 2012 Community Charities Program.

Generation New Status STM Drum Band was nominated for the grant by St. Maarten Cable TV a member of the CCTA and the cable and telecommunications provider for the island of St. Maarten Generation New Status STM Drum Band was chosen as a grant recipient because of the outstanding service and assistance it provides to the community. The check for $1,000 was presented by Ms. Beulah Jonis, Managing Director of St. Maarten Cable TV, on July 6, 2012. The CCTA’s Community Charities Program, established in 1993, has awarded more than $267,000 to Caribbean charities during its existence. The program originally awarded only 10 grants per year, but interest in the program has grown substantially in the last 19 years. All 14 of the 2012 nominees were worthy organizations, so the association’s board of directors voted unanimously to award $1,000 grants to all. The 14 Community Charities Program grant recipients were nominated by the following cable and telecommunications operators: Bermuda CableVision; BVI Cable TV; Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation of Barbados; Choice Cable TV of Puerto Rico; Innovative Cable TV St. Croix; Innovative Cable TV St. Thomas-St. John; Liberty Cablevision of Puerto Rico; St. Lucia Cablevision (LIME); St. Maarten Cable TV; SETAR of Aruba; The Cable of St. Kitts; T.V. Distribution Systems of Curacao; WestStar TV Limited of the Cayman Islands; and Wireless Telecommunication Network of St. Maarten. Formed in 1983, the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association represents cable and telecommunications providers throughout the Caribbean and the programmers, software and hardware suppliers that support their operations.
