Only two respond to Secretary General of Parliament’s request;

For Contractors to contact Secretariat for Urgent Meeting on Property Law and Contracting of WorkThe Secretary General of Parliament Jozef D. Semeleer said on Tuesday that to date only two contractors have responded to his request of last week to contact the parliamentary secretariat as soon as possible to set up a hearing regarding the Property Law and Contracting of Work draft ordinance.

Contractors have until Friday, June 1st, 2012 to inform the secretariat of their interests in the hearing.

The draft ordinance on Property Law and Contracting of Work which was submitted to the Parliament of Sint Maarten by the Minister of Justice and published on www.sxmparliament.org, will be held in a hearing format in a public session of the Central Committee of Parliament.

Members of Parliament would like to hear the opinions and recommendations from general contractors in the business community as to the effects and consequences before handling this draft ordinance in a Public Meeting of Parliament.

Representatives of contractors will be offered the possibility to make a brief presentation on the draft ordinance on Contracting of Work as it is relevant to their business interests in respect to the possible consequences of the proposed draft to contractors specifically and to the community in general.
