Mobile provider, TelCell, has donated 50 Top-Up cards to St. Dominic Primary school sixth-form students and their chaperons for an unforgettable end-of term Caribbean cruise that kicks off in Puerto Rico next week.
The cruise is the result of months of hard work by the exam class students who organized various fundraising events throughout the year to raise funds for the trip – their last before going their separate ways to various secondary schools.
“The students set off on their cruise on June 3rd for one week and will be ending their trip when they disembark on St. Maarten,” said one of the accompanying teachers and chaperons, Teacher Beverley.
She said the students did remarkably well with their various fund-raising events and thanked TelCell for putting the icing on the top by giving the students free top-up cards and the opportunity to call their parents and guardians while they are away.
The Top-Up cards were presented to the St. Dominic primary school teachers and students by TelEm Group Roaming Coordinator, Ms. Nina Diaz, last Friday after learning about the students trip from a parent.
Ms. Diaz said the cards will enable students travelling with cell phones to call home while they are away by utilizing the company’s roaming agreements with a worldwide network of partners.
“We are especially happy with the number of roaming partners we have throughout the Caribbean, that allow these students, or any other TelCell mobile customer to make and receive calls as though they are right here on St. Maarten,” said Ms. Diaz.
She said the mobile provider boasts of having some of the most competitive mobile roaming rates of cellular service providers on St. Maarten.
