Ministry of Justice Partners with Miami Dade School of Justice

AUDIO INCLUDED IN THIS STORY: On Wednesday May 16th 2012, the Minister of Justice, Honorable Roland Duncan held a press conference at the Cabinet on Illidge Road, to formally announce the Partnership Agreement that has been signed between the Ministry of Justice and the Miami Dade School of Justice.

The aims of this partnership are;

  • To harness the vision of a more superior image of Justice with the desire to make law enforcement more accessible for all.
  • To foster ideals of maintaining a more sustainable future for law enforcement.
  • To deliver a Justice Service that is extra ordinary and exceptional.

Dr. Garcia, Director of the Miami Dade School of Justice has many years of experience in the field of Justice, not to mention the School of Justice’s massive track record in delivering top of the line law enforcement officers for global clients.

The CCOP Course has 5 designated Police Officers namely;

1) Christiana-Romeo, Hellen,

2) Josepha, Edualdus,

3) Richards, Felix,

4) Sylvania, Micheal-Angelo,

5) Statie, Juan;

These 5 Officers were designated as Community Police Officers on May 1st and will start the course in the next two weeks and are expected to finish by the end of July. The Course includes an internship in Miami where the officers will receive practical experience while training. After completing the course these officers will be functioning in the areas of;

1. Low Lands,

2. Philipsburg, incl. Point Blanche and Fort Willem.

3. St. Peters incl. South Reward and Betty’s Estate, etc.

4. Dutch Quarter

5. Middle Region.

 

During the course of next week all contact information such as; phone numbers, twitter accounts and email accounts of the afore mentioned police officers will be published in the Media.

 

In July, a second group of designated Community Police officers will begin their course, which is scheduled to end in October.

In addition to the Community Policing Program the Ministry is exploring other possibilities for cooperation with Miami Dade School of Justice for further upgrading of its staff with emphasis on the uniformed services (IND, Prison, Police, and Customs).
