This knowledge centre enables scientists, students, island residents and local governments from the Caribbean region and European Netherlands to meet each other. Knowledge workers will conduct research on for instance biodiversity, archeology and marine biology. Also historical, socio-economic and social issues could be topics to be studied. Furthermore, the centre can accommodate courses and meetings for the local population and contribute to the transfer of knowledge to society, for example through exhibitions.
The research centre will be located on ST. Eustatius, because of the variety of landscapes, the great biodiversity, both on land and in the sea, and the rich cultural history of this island.
