On Monday afternoon members of the HIV/Aids Steering Committee (SC-HIV/Aids) met with the HIV/AIDS Programme Management Team at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss and make decisions on the final End of Project Evaluation Report for the HIV Programme 2007-2011.
The group also discussed the revised HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan 2012-2016 and the HIV/AIDS Work Plan 2012. Also being discussed was the plan of action for the Committees priorities for 2012 and the re-appointment of members to the HIV/AIDS Coordinating team as well as the Steering Committee for the next strategic planning cycle 2012-2016.
Prime Minister Hon. Sarah Wescot-Williams who chaired the meeting stated on Tuesday that the discussions were all in the context of government’s commitment to curb the HIV/AIDS epidemic and its consequences for our society.
“Much focus in being placed on the multi-sectoral approach, as the impact of this disease on our island goes beyond the health sector. The Minister of Labor, Health and Social Development is Vice Chair of the SC-HIV/Aids,” Prime Minister Hon. Sarah Wescott-Williams said on Tuesday.
