The 63 year old Saban Franklin Wilson was appointed Acting Island Governor of Saba by Representative of the Dutch Central Government, Wilbert Stolte, on April 17th 2012. Wilson, an inhabitant of the village St. John, held this position previously in 1991 until 1996 during the tenure of the former Lieutenant Governor Sidney Sorton. Wilson is married and has 4 children.
The new acting Island Governor has a long carrier in education behind him where he has held among others some of the following positions; teacher at Sacred Heart School, principal of Sacred Heart School, instructor adult education, coordinator for education on Saba at the federal level, representative of UNESCO and head of the Department of Education on Saba.
Wilson has many years of experience in the area of justice. From 1973 until 1984 he was the civil servant in charge at the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Until very recently he held the position of acting Public Prosecutor on Saba.
In the absence of Island Governor Jonathan Johnson Wilson will be charged with deputizing. His appointment is for one year.
