The Prime Minister hopes that the number of persons that turned out is impressive, and she was already impressed with the number of annual contributors to the fair and the awareness that this initiative has created amongst the population over the years.

"I also know that there are more services and businesses out there that could support this Lion’s drive, and at the same time, educate our population on health and health related matters.

"Allow me in support of this initiative, and to remind our citizens in general and women in particular of the benefits of preventive health measures, especially for those diseases for which there are a propensity on our islands.

"Life styles and eating habits, while not the only ones, are major contributors to the high incidence of diabetes and hypertension, both diseases that strike and debilitate an alarming number in our population, both temporarily and permanently.

"Educate yourselves as we work together on a healthier Sint. Maarten," Prime Minister Hon. Sarah Wescot-Williams, said on Sunday.
