The Bottom, Saba: Former member of the Island and Executive Council of Saba, Mr. Peter L. Granger passed away this evening on Saba at the Hon. Henry Every Senior Citizen Home at the age of 94. Mr. Granger served the Island Council of Saba for some 28 years and also served as a Commissioner for 16 years. Mr. Granger also operated a little grocery store at his home in Windwardside until he became a resident of the Senior Citizen Home.
Many would recall the struggle he carried out in making sure that the Central Government at the time introduced a pension for former Island and Executive Council Members on Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Maarten and Bonaire. The parliament of the Netherlands Antilles at the time found it fitting to even have the law named after him as the "Granger law". Mr. Granger was consistent in making sure that all former members of government was able to collect some form of pension for their dedication and service to their respective islands.
