Black history month 2012 at your Library

 

As every year the Library is celebrating Black History and St Maartens rich heritage with an inspirational and educational program . Popular movies enhancing cultural awareness will be shown on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 5.30 and 8.00 pm. On display will be books, DVDs, photos, and newspaper clippings. On Saturday february 18th there will be activities for children and adults at the library :

Program February 18TH

Bookparty about black hair with Hillie ArduinOn Saturday February 18th writer and storyteller Hillie Arduin will present her first Children’s book "Princess Ivana, the princess that did not want to comb her hair" with an exciting book party featuring black hairstyles. All children and their parents are invited at 10.00 at the Childrens corner of the library!

Presentation Minister Rhoda Arrindell on language culture and identity

On Saturday February 18TH at 7.30 pm the Library and conscious Lyrics foundation will be hosting a special presentation by Minister Rhoda Arrindell in the hall of the Library. Topic of the presentation will be " Language culture and identity in St Martin" which is the theme of Rhoda Arrindells thesis with which she graduated summa cum laude at the University of Puerto Rico last year. Since many people were not able to attend minster Arrindells first highly informative first presentation about this thesis on November 28th at the library, the Library and Conscious Lyrics foundation asked the Minister to do a follow up presentation on February 18th .
