On Saturday December 3rd just before midnight, four cars and their occupants traveling across the border between the Dutch and French Side in Oyster pond, were swept away by the raging waters, after the heavy rains that same evening. These cars were swept towards and into the pond. The occupants were forced to leave the vehicles behind and swim to safety. The Gendarmes and the French Fire and Rescue and the Police Department along with the Dutch Fire and Rescue worked together, to make sure that everyone in those vehicle were accounted for. Luckily no one lost their life in this whole ordeal. The vehicles were later removed from the gutter by a towing company.
