Since November 23rd the child day care centre Buzzy Bees is displaying the sign "Accredited Training Company. The accreditation means the Buzzy Bees meets the recognized criteria of Calibris Kenniscentrum Beroepsonderwijs, Zorg, Welzijn en Sport ( Calibris Knowledge Centre for Vocational Education, Care, Welfare and Sport) for the guidance of students during their vocational education. The recognition sign was unveiled by the young client of Buzzy Bees, T-Adre Parris, in the presence of representatives of the Gwendolyne van Puttenschool, EduPartners and the Foundation Youth Care and the executive council of St. Eustatius.
In accredited training companies students can gain experience with the practice and learn what the requirements are for their future job.
So called specialist teachers take care of the supervision of the students in the companies and pass on their job experience. Accredited training companies therefore beare a great responsibility.
The accreditation of a training company is handled by the expert centers for vocational education. In this case the Callibris Kenniscentrum accredited the Buzzy Bees. A course was followed before the accreditation of the Buzzy Bees. One of the employees, Cantica Smith, recently followed the specialist teachers training which as organized by Calibris on St. Eustatius.
Cantica is appointed as the permanent supervisor (specialist teacher) of the students during work placement.
There is much interest among the business community of St. Eustatius to obtain the official accreditation as a learning company. Beatrijs Keijser, who on assignment of the ministry of Education, Culture & Science (OCW) has guided the companies a behalf of Calibris, is very pleased with this; "The presence of accredited training companies is an important condition in order to be able to give vocational education good stature". Of course the Buzzy Bees is very proud to be an accredited training company on St. Eustatius. Rita Hassel, manger of Buzzy Bees: "It has been a huge achievement, but now we are there".
