The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) on Saturday morning unveiled its new uniform for the Carnival 2011 celebrations. Carnival kicks off on Monday, April 25th 2011 to May 3rd 2011 and the members of the SCDF are wasting no time in finalizing their preparations. President of the SCDF Stuart Johnson said, "we are fortunate enough to celebrate the first carnival under our new country status and we simply couldn’t let it go unnoticed."
The new polo type uniforms feature the colors of the St. Maarten flag mainly being red, white and blue. In addition to that the Scotiabank logo is located on one sleeve of the shirt while the other side proudly displays the St. Maarten flag. "We would like to thank the Scotiabank and in particular the Managing Director Elie Bendaly, for once again for coming through for us," Johnson added.
The SCDF made use of the opportunity to remind everyone of the ongoing postage stamp contest which the winning design will be chosen as the first postage stamp being printed ever for "Country" St. Maarten. The deadline for the submission of the postage stamp will be on Wednesday, April 27th 2011.
Entries could be delivered to the offices of the SCDF or at the Post Office with the attention of Denicio Richardson.
